Find out the story behind my Fame. The cake that conquered everyone except one.

Warning: This story has a lot of exclamation points. It need them.
A few years ago I became known... ahem, ahem... famous, I must say, for my exquisite carrot cake. From the first time it was delicious, I even made the frosting and everyone loved my cake. It became by far everyone's favorite. They started talking about my cake, comparing it to the ones sold out there and saying that mine was much better! They asked me to make it for them and even offered me it! Wooow! They praised me to such an extent for my carrot cake that I ended up being a "believer" of my cake because now I also think it is the best.

Now let's look at a couple of things. 1. When I learned to make carrot cake here in Uruguay it was not known at all. So how did I know it? and 2. What suddenly led me to learn how to bake it?
1. Some time ago there were a few years when I traveled a lot for work. Once I had to go to give courses in Athens for 5 weeks. Greece dazzled me, it fascinated me, I couldn't believe I was in the Acropolis! at the Parthenon! Right there I felt like I was inside a history book!! Ohhh, I faint dramatically just remembering it! I went to see the Parthenon day and night, I saw it up close and from far, from all angles, I went on foot and I rode a motorcycle, my skin crawls! Ahhhh....!
... the Parthenon! Right there I felt like I was inside a history book!! ...
Can you believe that walking through Plaka, the neighborhood at the foot of the Acropolis, there was a Starbucks? I already knew and loved Starbucks from traveling to the USA, but in Greece there are 8 million places to have incredibly delicious coffee with a special cream that only they make, so why would I have entered Starbucks? Well, I went in because it was in a historic building in which they had kept all the original charm and it was divine! And what do you think happened? They had carrot cake!!!!!!!! Cake that I had not tried yet but since I love cakes I thought: ¨Wow I have to try it! And yes, it was very delicious and I was delighted to have discovered a new cake that was not available here.

As if that were not enough, after Greece I went on vacation to visit other countries in Europe and on the outskirts of London in Kew Gardens, there was a small Starbucks in a charming little stone street that was leading to the train station, which It looked like something out of a historical reenactment movie. So I entered and voilà! They had carrot cake so I ordered that too. Just as delicious as the previous one. And I told myself that one day I was going to learn how to do it.
2. Upon returning to Montevideo I immediately resumed the driving classes that I had interrupted due to the work trip. My teacher was an excellent driving teacher from day one and at that point I was already discreetly dripping slime because he was also divine. I was more nervous about seeing him in every class than about learning to drive.

At this point in the story you may already be wondering how this story of birds in the head comes together with a carrot cake, right? Here we go.
One night when we were almost finishing our class, the topic of cooking came up, he asked me if I cooked and I told him that cakes turned out very well for me. We always talked in class while I was driving and he did it on purpose so that I would relax and learn to drive naturally. Furthermore, the conversations were super nice, there was a connection, we were even the same age, we were both single, etc... ahhh... Until that night, and returning to the topic of cakes, he told me that his favorite cake It was the carrot cake!!! And he still told me that he didn't think I knew it because no one here did. What's more, he told me that his ex-girlfriend made it for him (grrrr!) and that since they had broken up he had not tried it again!!! Oh, my God! What great information!
... he told me that his favorite cake It was the carrot cake!!! ...
I remember that I got out of the practice car with a big, mega, giant inner smile totally determined to learn how to make a carrot cake to conquer him!!
So as great as my excitement was, I searched for the recipe on Google and in the search engine I wrote: "The best carrot cake in the world." Yeah!! Believe or burst. There was a recipe with the title "The best carrot cake in the universe."

For the next class I had the conquest cake ready! It turned out spectacular to me. It looked divine and was even more delicious. How much emotion! Anyway, to not be obvious with my butterflies in my tummy, I only cut two generous portions and took them to him in a Tupperware. After all, a lady gives signals, not claws. I wanted to see his reaction and if he did anything afterwards.
OMG, OMG, OMG!!! What would happen next...
...After all, a lady gives signals, not claws ...
For his part, he thanked me very much for the cake, he loved it and he returned the Tupperware to me. (Ouch!)
For my part, I made one to take to work and it was a success. I made another one for my family and friends and it was another success. Everyone was talking about my carrot cake. What's more, I participated in a cake contest and... no, I didn't win anything either hahaha! but because you participated by sending a photo and a comment on Instagram. If they had tried it, it would have surely won a prize and a medal!
A few years later at work I participated in a pseudo digital cookbook with recipes writing by the company instructors like me (technology company). The important thing was to tell a story of how we had learned to cook that. I don't have that original text but I can tell you that I got a special mention for being the funniest story!! Yeahhh!
Conclusion: I didn't conquer him but I became famous for my carrot cake!
Moral: What is done with love always turns out well! My happy Ending.
Bonus track: I drive very well!
